TUESDAY, June 6, 2000 Up early, we checked out of the Hotel. (Cost was 124 DM for the room for 1 evening.) Tressie and Alan drove us back to the Hamburg Airport before 6 am. While they took care of returning the rental car, we immediately went to our gate B46 to sit and wait. Our flight was scheduled to leave at 6:50 am. We had already checked in the night before. We had a big problem, as our Flight wasn’t listed at that gate. We found out it had been cancelled, and we were told to go to the information desk for Lufthansa Airline. While John and I walked to the information desk, John heard our names on the PA system, but he could not understand it all, as they were speaking in German. We had heard gate 60, so we proceeded to that gate. There we found out, our flight was being combined with this earlier flight. Our luggage was already aboard and we were expected. We got on this earlier flight in the last 10 minutes of boarding. All went well from there. The flight is longer on the way back to America and most passengers stay awake as the sun is out for the whole flight. After two movies, lots of TV shorts, two meals and an assortment of snacks, we were once again in the United States of America. Auf Wiedersehen!
