Markus Nath
Funeral services for Markus Nath, 87, Luverne, were held Tuesday at the United
Methodist Church of Luverne. Burial was at Maplewood Cemetery.
The Rev. Donald F. Lyon officiated at the services. Pallbearers included
Ronald, Steven, Michael, Leslie, Loren and David Nath.
Engebretson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Nath died October 19, 1973 at the Mary Jane Brown Home in Luverne.
Markus Nath was born February 10, 1886 in Landkirchen, Fehmarn, Germany to
Julius and Wilhelmina (Filter) Nath. He came to the United States in 1909 to
Durant, Iowa and then moved to Rock County, Minnesota in 1911.
He married Emma Schneekloth on February 10, 1915 in Luverne. They farmed in the
Rock County area for 34 years.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Vincent (Norma) Meyer of Luverne
and Mrs. Horton (Milda) Staeffer of Orange, CA.; four sons, Carl, William,
Harvey and Orlen, all of Luverne; 28 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a step-mother, two sisters and three
brothers.

OBITUARY
Matthaus Nath
Matthaus Nath passed away on Friday afternoon, April 4, of last week. Funeral
services were held from the home at 2 o'clock Monday afternoon and burial was
made in Maplewood Cemetery. The Rev. O. C. Gross officiated.
Matthaus Nath was born June 9, 1882 in Landkirchen, Fehmarn, Germany to Julius
and Wilhelmina (Filter) Nath. At the age of 22, he came to America and settled
in Durant, Iowa. On February 2, 1916 he married Agnes Harmsen in Durant and
together moved to Rock County, Minnesota that same month. The family has always
made their residence in Rock County and engaged themselves in farming.
To Mr. and Mrs. Nath were born three children; Alvin, Mildred and Margaret, all
at home. Also surviving besides the children are his wife; one brother Markus
of Rock County; and two brothers and two sisters in Germany. He was preceded in
death by his parents and a step-mother, all in Germany.
