The Fehmarn Cousins Newsletter

Issue #24

The Members area of the website has been Improved.

The member’s area has also been improved for quicker lookups.  A nice clean looking report of your Family Group sheets and Pedigree charts can now be printed in .PDF Format.  A descendant and ancestor report has recently been added.

If you have not entered the member’s area in the last two months then you will need to re-register, where you will now be able to choose your own Username and Password.  The only requirement is that you share your information for entry into the members area of the website.  If you have already shared your information, just list the name of your most recent ancestor born on the Island.

Register now at http://www.fehmarngenealogy.com/register.htm

If you have not yet done so, I would like to encourage anyone who has not shared his or her line of descent from the Island to do so now, so this information can be included in the database.

Soon the entire website will be replaced with a “new improved website” in the coming months.  Be sure to watch for big changes as this new, more efficient website will slowly replace the old website.

  Our 5th Trip to Fehmarn

John and I have just returned from our firth trip to the Island of Fehmarn in Germany.  Each year, we visit the Island to research the Church Records for the benefit of this website and John's database.  Each year we try to visit different places on the Island and take photographs for your viewing pleasure.  You can see the photos in my journal and view more photos in our Webshots.com Albums.

See the Island of your ancestors through our eyes.  We explored the island for 6 days and have taken more photographs for your pleasure and seen new sights to our great pleasure.  Read about our adventures in my "Daily Journal".

In addition to our trips to the Neustadt Archives and Burg City Archive, this year, we visited the Petersdorf Church and had access to their Church Records.  We visited the Flügge Lighthouse, revisited the Churches and cemeteries, went to local festivals, visited the local Aquarium, and dined in several of the fine, local restaurants.  On this trip we visited with friends from past trips and made new friends.   And on several occasions, we met with individuals who wanted to express their gratitude to John for helping them with their family research.  Read about this and more in my Journal.

As an added side trip to this year's adventure, we visited London, England for the 3 days preceding our trip to the Island.  Hiring a tour guide, we made the most of our short visit and you can read about it in my Journal.
