Welcome to the Journals of “Our Trips to Fehmarn, Germany”

This section of the website contains the Daily Journal, as written by Judy Cummings, sister of John S. Kostick of our travels in Fehmarn.  It’s a daily accounting of our annual trips to the Island of Fehmarn…… discovering the  beauty of this land of our ancestors, while we research the church records for the benefit of this website.  Five years of Journals, are available for your reading pleasure, from our first trip in 1999 to our most recent trip in 2003.

1999-    This was our first trip to the island of Fehmarn.  On this first trip, we learned many things, made many mistakes and met wonderful people who helped us with our research of Fehmarn ancestors.  If you plan to visit Germany, read this journal, and learn how to avoid the mistakes that we made!

2000-    This was our second trip to Fehmarn.  Seasoned travelers on this trip, we met several local Fehmaraners who helped us with our search for Fehmarn ancestors.  This year we traveled with Alan and Tressie Hughes from Washington State.

2001- This was our third trip to Fehmarn. This year we met with a tour group from America arraigned by Dorothee Gossel, who was born in Fehmarn. Lots of research was done for the benefit of this website.

2002- This is our fourth trip to Germany and the Island of Fehmarn.  This year's trip was very memorable for John and myself, as we took a few days to go sightseeing in the South of Germany before traveling to Fehmarn.

2003- This is our fifth trip to the Island of Fehmarn.  This year's trip included a 3-day Holiday in London, England before we started on our genealogical search for more information to benefit this website
