Mrs. John Tanck Laid to Rest Saturday Afternoon
Rev. J. G. Steinmeyer conducted the funeral services for the late Mrs. John
Tanck at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church,
Saturday afternoon at two o’clock. Interment was in
Woodlawn cemetery. Death followed a siege of kidney trouble, and occurred at
her home on West Bailey Street, Wednesday evening at
8:30 o’clock.
Anna Froendt was born at Petersdorf, Germany, on March 21, 1856. She was 74
years, 9 months, and 10 days old. She was united in
marriage, at Petersdorf, to John Tanck, on January 31,
1875, and they came to America seven years later, settling at Keystone, Iowa.
In 1892 they moved to a farm in Pipestone
county, and in 1909 they moved to this city where she
has since resided. The husband passed away ten years ago.
Mr. and Mrs. Tanck were the parents of fifteen children, of whom eight
survive, and twenty-nine grandchildren, and one great
grandchild.
The children are:
Mrs. Margaret Johannsen, Henry Tanck, Louis Tanck, Mrs. Emma Both, William
Tanck and Miss Gertrude Tanck all of Pipestone; Mrs.
Amelia Binnebose, Lynd, Minn.; and Mrs. Louise Eggers
of White Rock, S. D. One brother, Hans Froendt of Spirit Lake, Iowa, and
two sisters: Mrs. Gertrude Meyers, White, S. D., and Mrs. Elsie Sanny of
Remsen, Iowa.
The pallbearers were: Gus Sindt, John Steffen, George Buseman, Peter Bruhn,
Peter Johannsen, and Henry Frahm.
Those from a distance who attended the last rites were: Mr. and Mrs.
Amundson and Henry and John Sanny of Remsen, Iowa; Mr.
and Mrs. Wm. Gertz of Spirit Lake, Ia.; Mr. and Mrs.
Clyde Smuck and John Meyer of Lake Park, Iowa; Mrs. A. Hagen, Mr. and Mrs.
Alton Cook and Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Gass and two daughters of Sioux Falls,
S. D.; Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Peterson and Mrs. Irving
Johnson of Platte, S. D.; Mr. and Mrs. Kurz and
son Fred of Brookings, S. D.; Mr. and Mrs. E. L. Eggers and children of White
Rock, S. D.; Miss Gertrude Tanck of Milwaukee, Wis.;
Mrs. Mollie Binnebose and children, Harold, Edward,
Ray and Esther of Lynd, Minn.; Miss Viola Both of St. Paul; Mr. and
Mrs. Hubert Cherveney of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; Miss LuVerna Tanck of
Keystone, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. H. N. Meyer, Mr.
and Mrs. A. J. Meyer, and Mr. and Mrs. Herman Meyer

Albert Sanny, of Remsen, Iowa.

Gray Twp. Resident Dies Friday Morning
Henry Tanck, longtime resident of Gray township, passed away on Friday
morning at the hospital here following a lingering
illness.
Funeral services were held this Monday afternoon at two o’clock at the Walz
Home for Funerals. Rev. F. J. Petersen of the
Presbyterian church was in charge and the music was
furnished by Mrs. Boyd Dressen.
The burial was in Woodlawn cemetery and the following acted as bearers:
Charles Peschon, Robert Stout, John Gehrels, Esker
Shaffer, Fred Adler, Ted Paulson.
Henry Tanck was born in Germany on February 21, 1877. He had resided for
many years in Gray township and had never married. he
is survived by the following brothers and sisters,
Mrs. Jake Both, White Bear, Minn.; Mrs. Louise Eggers, Wheaton, Minn.;
Miss Gertrude Tanck, Los Angeles, Calif.; Louis Tanck, Norfolk, Neb.;
Mrs. Jake Johannsen and William Tanck, Pipestone.

Burial of John Tanck to be at Keystone, Iowa
Former Pipestone Man Passed Away Tuesday --- Relatives Go to Attend Funeral
The death of John Tanck, a former Pipestone county man, occurred Tuesday at
a hospital in Cedar Rapids, Ia., following an
operation for gall stones. His mother, Mrs. John
Tanck, of this city, was called to Cedar Rapids by his illness, but returned
from that place last Thursday, leaving him
considerably improved. It was found necessary, however
to perform an operation early this week, from which he failed to rally.
Funeral services are to be held at Keystone, Ia., the home of the deceased,
on Saturday, and the following relatives left from
this city Wednesday, to attend the funeral; Mr. and
Mrs. Jake Johannsen, Will Tanck, Henry Tanck, Mrs. Jacob Both and Mrs. Julius
Binnebose.
John Tanck was born in Germany on Dec. 4th, 1878, and was a little over
forty-eight years of age at the time of his death. In
1882 he came to America with his parents, locating at
Keystone, Ia. The family moved to Pipestone county in 1892, and he resided
here for several years. Later he returned to Keystone and was married
there in 1902. he had retired from farming and
resided in Keystone at the time of his death.
He is survived by his wife and four daughters, also by his mother, and by
three brothers and five sisters as follows: Henry of
this city; William, of Pipestone county; Louis of
Beresford, S. D.; Mrs. Margaret Johannsen and Mrs. Emma Both of this county;
Mrs. Mollie Binnebose, Lynd, Minn.; Mrs. Louise
Eggers, White Rock, S. D.; Miss Gertrude Tanck of
Milwaukee, Wis.

Ludwig Adolph (Louis) Tanck

Louis A. Tanck
Funeral services for Louis A. Tanck, 82, Norfolk, who died Thursday morning,
will be held at 3:30 p.m. Sunday at the Home for
Funerals. Rev. Melvon Ireland, First Methodist Church
pastor, will officiate.
Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery. The body was to lie in state from
3 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the Home for Funerals.
Mr. Tanck was born Aug. 29, 1880, in Germany, the son of Mr. and Mrs. John
Tanck. He was a retired farmer, and had lived in the
Norfolk community about 20 years.
He is survived by three sons, John E. of Albany, N.Y.; Ray H. of Middleton,
Wis., and Dr. Robert L., Odessa, Wash.; three
daughters, Miss Margarite Tanck of Washington, D.C.;
Mrs. Mae McKenna of Albany, N. Y., and Mrs. Norbert Muhl of North Syracuse,
N. Y.; eight grandchildren,; one brother, William of Pipestone, Minn.;
and three sisters, Mrs. Louise Eggers of Wheaton,
Minn.; Mrs. Emma Both of White Bear Lake, Minn., and
Miss Gertrude Tanck of Hollywood, Calif.
He was preceded in death by his wife, one son and one daughter.
Note: Ludwig Adolph (Louis) Tanck was born at Petersdorf, Fehmarn.

Emma Mathilda Thiessen

Funeral Rites Today For Emma Thiessen
Funeral services for Mrs. Thiessen were held this afternoon, Thursday at 2
o'clock at the First Methodist church of Lynch. Rev. Anna Nelson
officiated at the service.
Mrs. Fred King and Mrs. Ernest Darnell sang, "In The Garden",
"Beautiful Garden" and "God Will Take Care of You",
accompanied by Mrs. Florence Harris at the piano.
Pallbearers were Veldon Lee, Homer Grimm, Harlan Holz, Edmund Rohde, Harold
Potter and Lloyd Spencer. Interment was at Pleasant View Cemetery under
the direction of Coulthard Funeral Home of Lynch.
Emma Mathilda Suckstorf, daughter of Herman and Emma (Voss) Suckstorf, was born
November 28, 1891 in Albertsdorf, Fehmarn, Germany, and passed away August 16,
1954 at the Sacred Heart Hospital in Lynch at the age of 62 years, 8 months and
18 days, after a lingering illness. She was baptized and confirmed in the
Lutheran faith while yet in Germany.
She immigrated to the United States in 1911, settling first near Hartington,
later coming to Boyd county to live on a farm near Gross.
On April 29, 1914, she was united in marriage to Robert Thiessen of Lynch and to
this union one child was born. Following their marriage, their home was
established north of Lynch where she continued to reside after the death of her
husband on October 31, 1935.
Mrs. Thiessen was a kind, loving wife and mother. She was a patient
sufferer during her last illness. The loving care of her family testifies
to their respectful love and devotion to her.
Left to mourn her departure are one daugher, Dolores; one sister, Mrs. Julianna
Bahr of Bloomfield; four brothers, Matthaus Suckstorf of Bloomfield, James and
Hans Suckstorf of Lynch and Herman Suckstorf of Scottsbluff; and many other
relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, one sister and two brothers.
